Terms of Service

Last updated October 7, 2026

Using OperatorDirect

These terms govern your use of OperatorDirect, including the website, the emergency phone line and the text and email messages we send on your behalf (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or calling the line you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

What the Service does

OperatorDirect lets you save a Help Kit of emergency information, such as trusted contacts, bank and carrier phone numbers, travel details and secure notes. If you lose your phone or wallet, you can call the line from any phone, verify who you are, and use an AI assistant to look up your saved information, send a text or email to a trusted contact, or connect or transfer the call.

Not for 911 or other emergency services

OperatorDirect is not an emergency service and does not replace 911 or your local emergency number. If you or anyone else is in danger or needs urgent medical help, call your local emergency number first.

Your account

The AI assistant

The assistant is powered by an AI model and can make mistakes, mishear you or misunderstand a request. Speech recognition over a phone line is imperfect. Double-check numbers, names and messages the assistant reads back to you.

Actions with real-world effects, such as sending a message or connecting or transferring a call, happen only after you give a clear spoken confirmation. By confirming, you authorize us to carry out that action for you.

Your content and trusted contacts

You own the information you save. You give us permission to store, process and share it as needed to run the Service, including sending it to the AI provider that powers the assistant and to carriers and messaging providers that deliver calls, texts and emails. Sensitive vault fields are encrypted and are shared with the assistant only when you ask for them and verify with your vault word.

Only add people as trusted contacts if you have the right to share their details and they would expect to hear from you this way. You are responsible for the content of messages sent on your behalf.

Messages and calls

Texts follow our SMS Policy. Message and data rates may apply. Calls to the line may be logged, and conversations may be processed to provide the Service, keep it secure and troubleshoot problems.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

We may suspend or end access if we reasonably believe these rules have been broken.

Availability

We work to keep the Service available, but we cannot promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. The Service depends on third parties such as phone carriers, messaging and email providers and AI services, and outages with them can affect calls, texts and emails. Keep an independent backup of your most important contact details.

No warranty

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows.

Limits on our liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, OperatorDirect and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profits, or harm resulting from a missed, delayed, misheard or misdelivered call, text or email. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or $100. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.

Ending your account

You can stop using the Service at any time and can ask us to delete your account and Help Kit. We may suspend or end the Service or your access, with notice where practical. Sections that by their nature should survive, including the limits on liability, continue after your account ends.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the date above, and for material changes we will notify you by email or on the website. Using the Service after an update means you accept the new terms.

Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which OperatorDirect is operated, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. For questions, read how OperatorDirect works, read our Privacy Policy, or contact us through the details on that page.
